We've got a little reading material for a rainy day... A letter from our president Jason Nutt to kick off the season. Dear Players, Families, and Coaches,This week we kick off the season for AA, AAA, Majors, and Intermediate (50/70). Seniors and Juniors divisions have been rolling for two weeks now. Our T-ball and Little Sluggers will kick off later this month. I wanted to take this time to extend a warm welcome to each and every one of you. It’s an honor to serve as your president, and I am committed to making this year memorable for our entire community. For Our Players:You are the heart and soul of our league. Remember that baseball is not just about the game or winning versus losing; it’s about learning life skills, building character, and forming lasting friendships.Be respectful to your teammates, coaches, umpires, opponents, the game of baseball, and most importantly, yourself.Embrace teamwork, celebrate victories, learn from defeats, and always give your best effort on and off the field. And most importantly, HAVE FUN. Baseball is a game, and you’re all kids. Enjoy this time—it only comes around once! For Our Families:Thank you for entrusting us with your young athletes. Your continued support throughout the season is vital to our league’s success and the positive development of ALL players.Lead by example and positively support our managers, coaches, umpires, and players. Celebrate their achievements and encourage them during challenging moments.Cherish these games and moments—they pass by quickly. Don’t let missed calls or balls and strikes distract you from enjoying the experience. For Our Coaches:Your guidance and mentorship are invaluable. As coaches, you have the power to inspire and shape futures. Teach not only baseball skills but also life lessons.Lead by example, instill discipline, and foster a fun and positive environment. Our players look up to you, and your impact extends far beyond the game.I am excited for the great games ahead and some of the exciting events that our board has planned for the league this year. With that in mind I need to remind you of two very important things. First, we are an all-volunteer league. Please be sure to thank those that have and continue to put in countless hours to make all of this happen.Lastly, we have a ZERO tolerance for inappropriate behavior toward umpires. We have a lot of young umpires who are excited about the game but are just learning. We need to support them and keep their love of the game going even if you don't agree with a call they make. Regular season should be fun for everyone. Everyone who registered agreed to a Code of Conduct when they signed up. As a league we have done a tremendous job of setting and holding a positive standard. Let’s see that it continues.I look forward to seeing you all around the parks in the upcoming months. Please don’t hesitate to come up and say hello.PLAY BALL!!!Jason NuttPresidentSoutheast Polk Little League ...
